I am in a season of creating landscapes and scenes drawn from horse cultures. My work is rooted in a deep connection to the places that accommodate horses and the communities that form around them. Through travel and experience, I have come to recognize that horse people often share a unique sensitivity—not only toward horses, but toward one another and the landscapes they inhabit together. This cross-cultural attentiveness is a connecting force.
Working primarily in watercolor and gouache in this creative season, I build representational paintings through layered techniques, often incorporating ink to refine details and introduce an illustrative quality shaped by my background in drawing and observation.
I hope viewers experience the sense of belonging I have found within horse cultures and rural landscapes, as well as the attentiveness and nuanced recognition that horse people share. My paintings invite reflection on the ways people are shaped by the environments they inhabit and the relationships they cultivate within them.
